Weaving - Make a Wall Hanging using Naturally Dyed Yarn

Weave your own beautiful wall hanging with naturally dyed yarn. Create your own unique woven wall hanging using traditional weaving and tapestry techniques and yarns hand dyed with foraged native Australian plants. 

Teacher: Belinda Evans

Workshop Duration: Full Day

Description: In this day long workshop you'll learn how to create your own unique wall hanging, focusing on freestyle tapestry weaving techniques. You will learn about the different types of weaving equipment, how to warp a loom and create lines, shapes, patterns and textures.

You'll start by going through the different tapestry weaving equipment and terminology, and move on to learning how to set up your loom to get the best results.

Then, using beautiful Australian yarns that have been hand dyed using foraged native Australian plants, you'll use tapestry weaving techniques to create your own wall hanging.

You'll have time to work on your own piece, and there will be time to get one on one assistance with your piece as you need it.

Materials: There will be a materials cost of $35.The materials kit will include a quality wooden weaving loom and accessories (to take home). Naturally dyed yarn and other weaving materials will be supplied on the day. 

Optional: bring your own inspiration material (artworks, photograph, flora), and your own special yarns to weave with. 

Takeaway: At the end you'll have your own wall hanging, a wooden loom, weaving accessories and beginner's weaving guide so that you can continue to weave many more pieces. 

Level: Beginners. No prior knowledge is needed for this class.
