The Craft Sessions' 6th Annual REtreat

Thursday 6th - Sunday 9th September 2018

The Craft Sessions' Annual Retreat is a weekend retreat of creative workshops, delicious food, quiet moments and inspiring people. It is an opportunity to play and learn, to talk, and share ideas. It’s about coming together and sharing a love of making, appreciating the beauty in the smaller things, and delighting in the pleasure and simplicity of all things handmade.

The weekend is an opportunity to immerse yourself in a weekend of knitting, weaving, stitching, printing, sewing, dyeing and making. Surrounded by beautiful greenery, the retreat spaces boasts big light filled rooms with stunning views of the surrounding bush.

This year's workshops can be found here.

  2. A non-residential place which includes everything on the inclusions list below except for your accommodation and your breakfast. You will need to organise your accommodation separately.

What are my registration inclusions?

How Much does it cost?

The cost for a full residential place at The Craft Sessions 2017 weekend retreat is $1180.

The cost for a non-residential place at The Craft Sessions 2017 weekend retreat is $780. This price includes all that a full residential place includes however accommodation and breakfast are not included with this option. You must find your own accommodation for this place.

The initial deposit on registration day will be $300 with the balance due on July 6th 2018.

    Class allocations

The Craft Sessions retreat is all-inclusive event which offers workshops as part of the retreat, rather than offering a guaranteed place in an individual workshop. In the week after registration we collect three preferences for each workshop time slot in order to assign workshops to each person. While we try to give each person their first choice, this isn't always possible due to demand. We have always been able to give each participant one of their top three choices.

Please be aware that buying a ticket to The Craft Sessions means that you are happy to accept any of your three workshop preferences. Our apologies, but we are unable to offer refunds based on class preferences.

    The detail behind the detail!

What is the standard of Accommodation?

Accommodation is simple twin share rooms with ensuite facilities and electric blankets for the cool nights. You can see pictures of the rooms on the Yarra Valley Estate website.

    A bit about meals

All meals are provided and are absolutely delicious, with afternoon tea as well as plenty of cups of tea to keep you going. We are able to work with most dietaries and we will ask you this question when you fill in your preference form.

    The Flow of the weekend!

The weekend begins on Thursday Sept 6th, when we will come together for a welcoming pre-dinner drink, followed by dinner, where we will meet our teachers and fellow crafters, share stories and plan your adventures.

Friday begins with (optional) meditation in the beautiful space that is the Yarra Valley Estate before heading straight into our first workshop. Friday afternoon is free time where you can sit and make with new friends, attend our optional workshops or go for a hike around the Estate.

Our second workshop will be held on Saturday morning after (optional) early meditation and delicious breakfast. Saturday afternoon has space for either relaxation and free craft, OR you can partake in our more optional bonus workshops. We will come together Saturday evening to share a meal and chat about our day around the fire (weather permitting).

Sunday begins with another (optional!) meditation class followed by a yummy breakfast and a day of solid crafting with our sensational teachers. We finish up with a late afternoon tea and say our goodbyes.

    Our Workshops

Our workshops are a creative hands–on experience. Our classes are small and intimate allowing time for questions, space to build on ideas, make mistakes and learn new things. We have designed many of them especially so you can begin, work and follow your project through to something beautiful and complete. Others look at mastering particular techniques or building on your skills.

The workshops are a chance to gather knowledge, learn new skills and be inspired by an amazing group of gifted teachers and passionate and talented crafters. We are so excited to have talented (and lovely!!) teachers from all corners of the crafting world to come and share their love of making.

Please join our mailing list or follow our blog to be kept up to date. A list of last year's workshops can be found here

The Craft Sessions reserve the right to cancel the event. You will be entitled to a full refund. However, we cannot cover travel costs you may have in the event of cancellation. Please ensure you have separate travel insurance to cover this, in the event The Craft Sessions' retreat is cancelled.
