Sewing - Overnighter Bag
Make this gorgeous overnight bag - made from sturdy cotton canvas with a fun chunky zipper that you will want to fill and take with you on your next day trip or overnight adventure.

Workshop Duration: Half Day
Description: This class will tackle sewing zippers, sewing straps, and sewing with canvas to make a super practical and gorgeous bag. You will learn how to sew curves, insert a zipper, create pockets and attach handles, and expertly finish off the internal seams with bias tape.
Materials: Fabric. Scissors, pins, sewing machine, small snips or cutting scissors, natural or white thread, a zipper foot and a heavy machine needle (90). You will also need to provide 1m Cotton Canvas, 3m of 3cm wide cotton webbing, 5m of 2cm cotton bias, 70cm chunky zip. Patterns have been generously provided to us by the lovely Purl Soho.
Takeaway: You will be skipping off out of The Craft Sessions with all your goodies safely tucked away in this classic bag, as well as a hardcopy version of the pattern.
Level: Advanced Beginner. You need to be able to sew a straight seam.
So I wrote last week a post asking “Is my making fast fashion?”. And then I did a video on Instagram discussing similar topics in a slightly different way. And as always, you lovely humans have helped me clarify some of my thinking with your thoughtful, clever commentary.
And while I think there is so much more to discuss, here are four key possibly-more-meta ideas that have come up for me out of those conversations.
In using the quote last week that suggested that there was no single answer, and suggesting that this was freeing, I really did mean that we should sit in the grey. Not that the lack of “an” answer to this question should mean we get to ignore the question but rather that the lack of “an” answer means that we need to keep asking bigger more beautiful questions. And keep asking them.
Is my making fast fashion?
Am I living my values or merely thinking them?
And how can I make those two things a little more aligned in this moment?
These are my big beautiful questions.
